Hemp Biocomposite Boards Using Improved Magnesium Oxychloride Cement

The share of bio-based materials in modern construction needs to grow more rapidly due increasingly stringent environmental requirements as a direct result the climate emergency. This research aims expand use hemp concrete by replacing traditional lime binder with magnesium oxychloride cement, which provides faster setting and higher strength, opening door for industrial production. However, negative feature this is its low water resistance. In work, resistance cement was studied, possibilities improving it adding fly ash, various acids nano-silica were considered. Nano-silica citric acid showed most significant impact, increasing up four times, reaching softening coefficient 0.80 while reducing compressive strength dry state only 2–10%. On downside, phosphoric significantly extended binder, delaying 2–4 times. Regarding board production, prototype samples biocomposite demonstrated than 3.8 MPa but 1.1–1.6 wet state.
